The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel is set to welcome a series of themed Christmas party events, organised by event management company West End Events, in December 2024, following a successful sell-out celebration at the end of last year.
On 8th December, more than 400 guests from major financial, IT, and telecoms organisations in Manchester enjoyed an epic Motown-themed festive dinner and party. The gathering took place inside the hotel’s International Suite – one of Manchester’s largest ballrooms, which boasts lavish chandeliers and grand high ceilings.
The Motown Christmas Party featured a live six-piece Motown band, a glitter bar, casino tables, a three-course feast, and plenty of dancing the night away to some of the greatest tracks ever written by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and Smokey Robinson.
So, why did West End Events choose the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly, and why is it returning?
For the company’s Sales Manager, Ryan Young, the Mercure team went above and beyond, offering excellent communication and organisation, flexibility, and attractive packages. He explains: “Flawless is how I would describe the Mercure. At every stage, it was very much a joint venture. When small challenges arose, it was quickly and easily resolved with their help.”
The executive chef and catering team expertly delivered a creative menu – a twist on the traditional Christmas fare – and were “professional and adaptable to sliding time scales on the night,” adds Young. “The team also worked with us on simple things, like the bar menu, and were always flexible and supportive on the financial side.”
People and talent are fundamental to Mercure’s new vision, strategy, and investment plan, and this shone through for Young. “Aziza, Mercure’s Director of Sales, was key to us choosing the Mercure. She is spot-on with everything and very flexible in her approach. Hosting our events in The International Suite, one of Manchester’s most centrally located ballrooms, was a no-brainer. The flexible room has an attractive balcony area that overlooks the main space and is the perfect size to create a buoyant atmosphere.”
The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly has also recently completed a £3 million transformation project, which included the modernisation of 280 bedrooms, reception area, and the ‘International Suite’. This makeover also aided Young’s decision to return: “The refurb helped to make the night a more attractive option, particularly for returning guests. The city of Manchester is thriving right now and demand is high – and growing – for this type of event. We are returning because the Mercure offers peace of mind – we are confident our events will easily sell out and will be a success.”
