Venues of Excellence (VoE) have confirmed their support to the Hotelier’s Charter which exists to raise the profile of the hospitality industry, advocating working in hotels as a great career choice.
The Hoteliers’ Charter was drawn up in 2020 to raise the profile of the industry and promote hospitality as a profession of choice to parents, schools, colleges, universities, and career influencers. At the VoE annual conference earlier in the year, Adrian Ellis, General Manager at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester presented to over 100 members within the consortium around the charter, encouraging hotel GMs to support the Charter and increase its profile throughout the UK.
Mandy Jennings, CEO, Venues of Excellence commented: “Since the pandemic many of our member venues, like the industry as a whole are challenged to find passionate hoteliers to join their teams. Historically, many have seen the hospitality sector as a steppingstone to another career, but we are keen to support and promote just how great a career in our industry is. By supporting the Hoteliers’ Charter, we wish to encourage hotels and venues to also join and agree to the 10 commitments of the charter. They, in turn will be encouraging employment from their locality into the wider industry and showcase the hospitality industry as a positive, vibrant, and interesting career choice, in addition to providing structured career paths and development for their individual teams.
Our Venues of Excellence team are all hotel and venue graduates with many years of experiences working for outstanding high-quality brands. We all chose hospitality as our career path and have had the most exciting journeys, with many of us starting as trainees in hotel groups and working our way through departments until we specialised in Sales and Marketing and on to Director and Board level. We have some amazing stories to share with a new generation of potential employees and want to spread the word that our hospitality industry can be one of the best career paths with boundless opportunity.”
Adrian Ellis, Chair of the Northern Hoteliers Association welcomed Venues of Excellence as a member to the Hoteliers’ Chapter saying: “The Hoteliers’ Charter is pleased and proud to welcome Venues of Excellence as an official partner in all the work that is ongoing with the Charter. The excellent work and support from members of Venues of Excellence will very much work alongside the ambitions and goals of the Hoteliers’ Charter. The key aim of the Charter is to raise the reputation and profile of the Hotel industry and we look forward to working together on our education and sustainability programmes for the future.”
Supporting the Charter underpins the key objectives within our organisation to promote quality and excellence within our membership and providing outstanding customer care to our clients.
