UKEVENTS, the umbrella organisation for the UK events industry, is set to host an exhibition in the Upper Waiting Hall of the Palace of Westminster from 3-6 February 2025.
This exclusive event will provide a unique opportunity for Members of Parliament to engage directly with industry leaders and understand the crucial role of the events sector in driving economic growth and fostering community development.
The exhibition will highlight key industry achievements, including:
- £61.653 billion annual economic contribution from customer spend
- Over 700,000 jobs in the creative, hospitality and visitor economy supported across the country
- In excess of £200 billion in trade, inward investment, science, innovation and knowledge exchange facilitated
Glenn Bowdin, Chair, UKEVENTS, emphasised the importance of face-to-face engagement with parliamentarians. He said: “Direct interaction with MPs is vital for our industry’s future. This exhibition allows us to showcase the events sector’s significant economic impact and its role in promoting innovation, attracting international visitors, and creating jobs.
“By engaging with parliamentarians in person, we can effectively communicate our industry’s needs and potential, ensuring that the UK remains a leading destination for hosting world-class events.”
· The exhibition will facilitate opportunities for parliamentarians to have one-on-one discussions with industry experts representing UKEVENTS and covering all aspects of business and outdoor event activities. Key policy proposals to be presented include:
· Development of a National Events Strategy and introduction of tax incentives to fuel growth in number of events held across the Nation.
· Alignment of business events with key industrial strategies
· Expansion of VisitBritain’s highly successful and productive Business Events Growth Programme
