UKHarvest is an environmental charity on a mission to eliminate food waste and hunger! They ensure everyone has access to quality nutritious meals by offering food redistribution and education services.
Working across Southern England, UKHarvest fights food waste for the environment by collecting edible surplus food from organisations, including farms, manufacturers, shops and events. They cook, repack or redistribute and donate this to charities who help those most vulnerable, such as foodbanks, homeless shelters, schools and community groups.
They bring communities together helping people to eat well, live well, and combat social isolation by hosting cookery classes, community meals, and pantries. The sessions help people to create delicious healthy meals that are budget-friendly while minimising food waste in the home.
Our Impact:
Between April 2020 and March 2021:
- 604 people participated in our education sessions
- 357 charities received our food
- 696 tonnes of food distributed
- 2.5 Million meals delivered
- 171 organisations donated food
- 1322 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions offset
