With the recent inclusion of two additional properties into its portfolio, The Celtic Collection has reaffirmed its position as Wales’ largest independent hotel operator.
The Collection, a prestigious family of experience-focused UK business and leisure destinations including the Celtic Manor Resort, recently secured the hotel management contract for the iconic St Brides Spa Hotel, a luxurious 34-room hotel overlooking Saundersfoot in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
In conjunction with the 146-bed Tŷ Hotel Newport, opened on Friday 31st May, the new hotels enhance the Collection’s bed stock to 1,129 rooms and 10 luxury lodges, providing the infrastructure required for organisations to host large-scale impactful events in Wales.
The clifftop St Brides Spa Hotel, which came under The Celtic Collection management in May, features individually styled sea view bedrooms, an award-winning spa and The Cliff Restaurant and Gallery Bar which offer dramatic views across the bay and a menu boasting the finest Pembrokeshire produce.
A range of flexible meeting rooms include three versatile and light-filled conference rooms which are ideal for boardroom meetings, theatre style presentations, networking events and dinners, and can accommodate from 14 to 100 attendees. The St Brides portfolio also includes 14 beautifully appointed self-catering apartments in Saundersfoot village, with one and two-bedroom options offering another great choice for visitors and corporate retreats.
Meanwhile, Tŷ Newport is located next to Coldra Court Hotel, creating an enhanced residential event complex, which together are a short 15-minute walk from The Celtic Manor Resort and ICC Wales. The new hotel opened in time to welcome its first guests attending the Royal College of Nursing annual congress, one of the largest conferences ever held in Wales with almost 3,000 delegates. Tŷ Newport’s proximity to the state-of-the-art ICC Wales convention centre further elevates the options for event bookers looking for seamless event management services.
Tŷ Newport also showcases The Celtic Collection’s commitment to exceptional environmental standards, aligning with the Welsh Government’s environmental strategy. Eco-friendly practices and initiatives have been implemented into the hotel’s design, such as the installation of an all-electric system that utilises heat pumps and photovoltaic panels. Not only does this equip the new venue with an overall EPC rating of A, but its zero-gas status makes Tŷ Newport the first all-electric hotel with more than 100 bedrooms in Wales.
The Celtic Collection now comprises 10 hotels and resorts in total with almost 1,200 bedrooms as well as 14 fabulous restaurants, more than 50 meetings and events spaces, three championship golf courses and four health clubs and spas.
Ian Edwards, CEO, The Celtic Collection said: “We’re delighted to bring these two exciting additions into The Celtic Collection, and they underline our ambitions to keep expanding as the largest independent hotel operator in Wales.
“The beautiful St Brides Hotel has established itself itself as a spa destination of real prestige in a wonderful location and we look forward to building on this strong platform to grow the business further.
“With St Brides and the new Tŷ Newport, The Celtic Collection increases and diversifies its portfolio of hotels and event spaces, all underpinned by the quality and unparalleled experience associated with the iconic Celtic Manor Resort brand.
“The launch of Tŷ Newport and the acquisition of St Brides Spa Hotel will further strengthen South Wales’ meetings and events offering and cement its position as a sought-after destination for national and international delegates and tourists alike.”
