SUMMER CULTURE BECKONS ON THE RIVER TERRACE AT SOMERSET HOUSE

From May, the River Terrace with its fabulous views across the Thames, will be open for events, culture and corporate hospitality. Set against the striking neo-classical architecture of Somerset House, the River Terrace offers an iconic setting for outdoor summer City entertaining.

As well as enjoying the architecture and views, guests can immerse themselves in the surrounding culture with the exhibitions taking place at London’s working arts centre. From 1st – 27th June the London Design Biennale is in town featuring a global collection of the world’s most ambitious and imaginative designers, curators and design institutes. This year a diverse group of countries, cities and territories from six continents will focus on this year’s theme ‘Resonance,’ chosen by Artistic Director Es Devlin.  The much-anticipated ‘Forest for Change’ installation in the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court will wow guests on arrival and tickets for the Biennale can be added on to events for an enhanced experience.

From 19th July, ‘No Comply’ arrives in the Terrace Rooms. Uplifting and inspiring, this exhibition celebrates the UK’s vibrant and diverse skateboarding scene, documenting the influence the subculture has played in shaping people, cities and culture across the UK and beyond. With youthful and energetic aspects, No Comply makes a fun addition to any event.

Luci Sorrell, business development manager said “we have colourful and inspiring exhibitions to enhance our clients’ events this summer. We have also created River Terrace entertaining packages to make hosting an event simple for organisers, so it is easy to see that holding an event here is much more accessible than perhaps people realise. There are of course flexible elements and enhancements to play with giving every event that bespoke edge.”

Planners can choose from a range of esteemed contemporary London caterers; with barbeque options from Clement Worrall, sophisticated canapés and bowls from Alexander & Björk or innovative food stations from Bubble. Production house Full Circle is on hand to provide a range of furniture and entertainment options from DJ’s to roving bands, large games and magicians*.

Sorrell continued “it couldn’t be simpler to have a summer party here. We have also included drinks in the packages, so all organisers need to do is bring their guests, choose catering and entertainment, and the rest is done!”

The packages are available from May – September for parties of 150-500 guests from 18.45 – 22.00 though times can be extended for additional cost.

*other entertainment options are available.
