The Esports Summit presented by London & Partners, the business growth and destination agency for London, in partnership with the Science Museum will take place on Tuesday 27th February 2024 and will feature keynote speakers and panel discussions that will share insights into esports in London.
Taking place at the Science Museum, the third edition of this event will bring together key stakeholders including leading publishers, tournament organisers and higher education with the discussion centring around how London can become the European capital of esports and video games.
The keynotes and panel discussions will take place in the iconic IMAX: The Ronson Theatre with its state-of-the-art surround sound system and one of the world’s most sophisticated projectors. Topics that will be discussed by speakers including Georgina Macauley, Marketing Director B2C at Fnatic, Professor Philip Wilson Executive Chairman at the College of Esports and Heather Dowe, CEO at Hotdrop, are:
- London’s esports credentials
- Does London have the required talent pool for the industry to grow?
- Does esports need help from Central Government?
- What does London’s competition look like?
Following the main content sessions, guests and stakeholders will be invited to test their gaming skills during networking drinks in Power Up, the museum’s new hands-on gaming experience. The gallery showcases the best video games and consoles spanning 50 years from Pong to Pacman, Minecraft to Mario.
Jodie Guilford, Business Development and Marketing Manager at the Science Museum, comments: “We’re looking forward to working with London & Partners as we host the third edition of the Esports Summit. The influence of esports is growing rapidly and represents a highly engaged and brand-conscious market so it’s exciting to be welcoming key leaders in the sector to the museum to hear how London can capitalise on this. It’s also a great opportunity to showcase the museum and its capabilities to those involved in esports.”
Ailsa Buck, Head of Major Events & City Experience at London & Partners, added: “The London esports space is hotting up. With the BLAST Premier Spring Final and the League of Legends World Championships making their way to our city this year, adding the summit to the mix is incredibly exciting for us. We’re looking forward to teaming up with the Science Museum to make London a top spot for esports.”
