National Railway Museum reveals new interactive engineering gallery available for event hire

The National Railway Museum in York has announced that its newest and most spectacular gallery – Wonderlab: The Bramall Gallery – will be available for corporate event hire when it opens in Summer 2023.

Wonderlab is a dynamic, dramatic, and multi-sensory gallery designed to help guests think and act like engineers by seeing the world differently and is part of the National Railway Museum’s exciting Vision 2025 development.

From railways to rockets, bridges to buildings, engineering is everywhere and the aim of NRM’s Wonderlab is to approach engineering as a way of thinking and acting. The 18 interactive exhibits have been designed to take guests on a journey into the active world of engineering, focussing on the concepts of Power, Motion and Control.

In addition to the interactive exhibits and artworks, guests can enjoy live demonstrations and immersive experiences led by the museum’s talented team of explainers.

Corporate hire of Wonderlab includes exclusive use of the interactive gallery for guests to explore at their leisure followed by a drinks reception in the popular Great Hall. Catering options are available and include canapes, bowl food or a buffet.

Helen Beresford-Boyse, Sales and Marketing Manager at the National Railway Museum, says: “We are really excited to be able to offer Wonderlab: The Bramall Gallery as a new space for events at the museum. The gallery is our most interactive to date, which makes it the perfect location to host drinks receptions where guests can network among the exhibits and gain an insight into the incredible world of engineering.

“Now more than ever, clients are looking to create an event experience that engages and inspires their guests. By offering access to our new Wonderlab gallery, we’re able to provide an even more memorable experience.”

The gallery’s major funding partner is the Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation who pledged £2.5m towards the creation in March 2022. Wonderlab has also received funding from Friends of the National Railway Museum, Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, and The Holbeck Charitable Trust. The National Railway Museum is seeking additional funding to further Wonderlab and its wider Vision 2025 projects.
