Merlin Venues, a leading provider of event spaces, unveiled a new charitable initiative during the grand opening of their Riverside Rooms venue in London last night. The initiative aims to support two notable charities, the Sea Life Trust and Merlin’s Magic Wand.
Under this initiative, for every event booked at one of the London Merlin venues, £1 per cover will be donated to either of the two charities associated with Merlin Entertainments.
Additionally, companies will have the option to round up the donation amount if they wish to contribute more. Client organisations will also be provided with information about the charities, including opportunities for partnering with them and volunteering.
The initiative was launched during the opening of Merlin’s latest venue space. The Riverside Rooms, situated within County Hall on the South Bank, offers stunning views of the Thames, Houses of Parliament, and the Lastminute.com London Eye through expansive windows. The venue provides a flexible solution for various events such as dining, parties, and conferences. The oak-panelled rooms, flooded with natural light, offer an elegant setting for both daytime and evening events. Guests can also enjoy access to some of London’s popular attractions, including VIP experiences and additional event spaces.
During the opening event, attended by more than 150 people, attendees were treated to an exclusive London Eye Champagne and canape experience, followed by the launch of the Riverside Rooms. The evening was filled with mesmerising entertainment, food, drinks and more.
“Merlin Venues believes in the importance of corporate social responsibility and is dedicated to making a positive impact,” comments Zoe Ward, Head of Sales, from Merlin Venues. “The launch of these fantastic new spaces provided the perfect opportunity to highlight our CSR goals to an audience of industry leaders and experts. By choosing a Merlin Venue, organisations can make a difference and contribute to two fantastic causes. We are looking forward to seeing the significant impact this charitable initiative will have and were overwhelmed by the positive support and feedback we had on the night.”
Eleanor Kingham, PA at Hyve Group plc said: “The Riverside Rooms are really great. We’re looking at hosting our Christmas lunch at the Riverside Rooms with a private London Eye Pod for 70 people after seeing the space today. Meanwhile, the charity incentives really help convert bookings as they resonate with our company’s values. We ourselves are looking to now partner with Merlin’s Magic Wand and Sea Life Trust.”
SEA LIFE TRUST and Merlin’s Magic Wand do amazing work both globally and locally. By supporting the SEA LIFE TRUST it provides necessary funds to the Beluga Whale Sanctuary and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, as well as to many of their other campaigns. The Beluga Whale Sanctuary works to take care of resident whales, providing them with a dedicated animal care team and essential health checks by specialist vets. It is the world’s first open water sanctuary for Beluga whales, giving them a more natural home, helping to put an end to the exploitation of these whales.
Merlin’s Magic Wand is a global charity who work across all 140+ Merlin attractions on three programmes to help families and children facing difficulties. Part of these programmes include Magical Days Out in which terminally ill children or families facing challenging circumstances, can visit a chosen Merlin attraction for free. Merlin’s Magic Wand also has an exciting community outreach initiative to bring some Merlin fun and magic to children in hospitals or schools and orphanages who would not be able to get themselves to a Merlin attraction. The funds collected from Merlin Venues will go towards helping Merlin’s Magic Wand with their mission to deliver three million magical experiences to children and their families by 2025.
