Lime Venue Portfolio Tackles Truths on Event Food Sustainability

Lime Venue Portfolio is set to spice up the conversation on sustainable food with an interactive ‘Quiz Show’ session, ‘What’s New in Food’, at Micebook Expo 2025. Hosted by Jo Austin, Sales Director and Conference & Events Sustainability Lead for Compass Group UK&I, alongside Glenda Carlyle, Senior Sales Manager at SEC, this session promises a fresh, engaging take on the most pressing questions about sustainable food trends.

The lively format will tackle hot-button issues in the world of sustainable catering, including:

  • Why the events industry is avoiding beef?
  • How eating venison can rival plant-based diets in eco-friendliness.
  • Why counting carbon may matter more than counting calories?
  • The search for sustainably sourced salmon.

Designed to inform and entertain, the quiz will dive into contemporary trends in event food sustainability and offer practical advice for event planners on addressing these trends in their catering decisions. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to align their food choices with sustainable practices and embrace innovative culinary ideas to create impactful, eco-conscious events.

Jo Austin said: “This isn’t your typical food talk. We’re breaking down complex topics in a fun, interactive way to empower planners to think differently about what’s on the plate. Sustainable food doesn’t have to be boring – it can be creative, impactful, and delicious.”

The ‘What’s New in Food’ session runs from 2:15 to 3:00 PM on Monday 27 January during the Micebook Expo, which will be held at Convene Sancroft, St. Paul’s, London from 27-28 January. As part of this partnership with Micebook, Lime Venue Portfolio will also be exhibiting.

This announcement follows the launch of Lime Venue Portfolio’s new series of ground breaking ESG guides, designed to help event planners seamlessly integrate ESG principles into their operations. Each guide will focus on one letter of the ESG acronym, offering practical tools and unmissable insights. The first ‘E’ Guide is available here, with the launch of the ‘S’ Guide following in February 2025. The ‘G’ Guide will be published in June.
