We caught up with James Lockyer from First Line Event Hire and found out what their back to work plans look like.
“With the ongoing easing of restrictions we are starting to see an increase in website and social media interest in equipment hire . This is leading to more quotes being done for this year and next .
The question is how do we reassure our clients and the public we are doing all we can to reduce the chance of cross infection .
I myself was trained as a chef starting out with Four Seasons and going onto Grosvenor House so have a more than average understanding of this issue .
All companies undertake risk assessments and use method statements in their daily operations . We under these circumstances have opted to look at it from a HACCP point of view as well even though we don’t handle food but handle what food and drink is served in and on .
So we have in the last couple of months decided to move to larger premises to enable us to set out our controls . This means that on entry into the building hand sanitiser is required to be used .
In our packing area we have sanitiser stations to keep a constant barrier against contamination at all times .
Our standard procedure is after washing all our crockery is cling filmed . Our cutlery is polished which passes through a UV filter and then bagged .
When boxing orders up our crockery and cutlery is placed in sealed boxes which on request can even be cable tied thus preventing any contamination during delivery or before use .
We now provide masks & gloves to our drivers and a sanitiser in the vans .
No signatures are required at present as we now photograph deliveries and delivery notes emailed.
We offer a FREE return dirty service so no chance of items being cleaned by a client . All of our boxes and lids go through the dishwasher after use.
All of our cooking equipment is sanitised after cleaning , however as when using a kitchen caterers should sanitise all surfaces before use .
All collections from our warehouse, for those that prefer this option is by appointment only.
So to conclude we have tried to reduce as much as possible any chance of contamination during our procedures , but it is everyone’s duty along the supply chain to do everything possible to reassure and provide the safest possible experience to our clients .”
