Flock, the peer-to-peer network founded by Exclusive Collection in 2019, launched Flock – Go the Distance yesterday (4th February), a virtual cycling challenge for business leaders to meet, ride and interact. Devised to raise money for charity and help boost individual and team health and wellbeing, the 14-week programme explores the theme of ‘endurance’ and will be supported by webinars and content from a line-up of expert speakers from the sporting world.
Peer-to-peer network Flock was created as a community for business leaders to gain access to insights from sporting elites, share best commercial practices and interact with one another, with previous events featuring speakers including Eddie Jones and Jonny Wilkinson. With the business world transitioning to a new phase of online and hybrid events, Flock is also migrating to become an online community for 2021, maintaining the same premise of networking, top-class speakers and insights.
The correlation between sport and business performance is well-established and core to Flock’s ethos, and with all that’s been endured this past year, the next chapter of Flock will draw on the lessons and learnings of endurance sport. Flock – Go the Distance will combine an endurance cycling challenge via training app Zwift along with content exploring whether endurance and the ability to keep going is a trait or if it can be learned, as well as drawing on the synergies between corporate life and life as a world class endurance athlete. The content programme will feature upcoming sessions with guest speakers, including Adventurers Nick Hollis and Kenton Cool, Olympian Cath Bishop and Performance Scientist to Olympians Dr Steve Ingham.
Danny Pecorelli, MD at Exclusive Collection, says: “2020 proved to be a year like no other; it’s been a long journey that has required tenacity, teamwork, compassion and a good dose of humour.Although many of our service parameters have changed, Exclusive Collection is getting back into the swing of things and establishing a new set of traditions as we balance the need for physical distancing in a business that thrives on a house full of guests and a busy, buzzing team.
“Elite sport is an important element of our business and coupled with a protracted 2020 where the business goals changed regularly, we wanted to draw on the lessons and learnings of endurance sport for our next chapter of Flock. Running a business in the last year has been an endurance event in its own right, and it felt apt for us to focus on this theme after a period of 12 months where the path was never straightforward and required a considerable amount of grit and determination. I look forward to a time when I can personally welcome the members of our Flock network back to one our hotels, but in the meantime, I hope to see everyone online very soon.”
