Unhidden, a disabled-run fashion brand based in London is launching a new collection of 30 looks, with the support of The Bicester Collection, during their runway show at London Fashion Week February 2023.
The invite-only show is taking place on Friday 17th February at 9:30pm -12am at 24 Britton Street, EC1M 5UA.
Unhidden is grateful for the support of The Bicester Collection, who have offered impactful resources to help Unhidden showcase its message. This initiative is part of The Bicester Collection’s ongoing commitment to support tomorrow’s talent today, in keeping with The Collection’s DO GOOD programme mission to unlock the future for women and children across the globe.
Eco Foundry works with organisations to increase and promote their sustainable commitment and assists companies striving to increase their sustainable responsibilities. For this landmark event they are providing a living wall centrepiece featuring over 160 plants.
Unhidden was founded by London entrepreneur Victoria Jenkins, who was diagnosed with multiple gastrointestinal conditions after life-saving surgery in 2012, and now lives with reduced mobility.
During her hospital stays in 2016 she realised the massive gap in the market for fashionable adaptive wear that would help the millions of disabled people retain their dignity as well as sense of style.
Unhidden addresses the issues faced by wheelchair users, those with limited dexterity and anyone who requires ports and monitors on different areas of the body. Additionally, each collection is crafted from deadstock fabric and future plans include joining rental platform Loanhood.
Together, the two companies will bring the beauty and benefits of nature to the fashion industry by integrating living walls onto Unhidden’s runway. Not only will this enhance the experience and aesthetics of the show, but it will also promote the use of plants as a natural way to improve air quality and overall well-being.
This collaboration is a step towards a more sustainable future for both the fashion and creative industries. With the exclusive licensing rights to both Paw Patrol and SpongeBob Square Pants, Unhidden will also be launching kids adaptive wear; both set for launch in Spring/ Summer 2023 alongside other retail partners.
Victoria Jenkins, Founder and CEO of Unhidden, reflects on showcasing her collection at London Fashion Week:
“After years of development and research into adaptive design, being able to produce a runway show and work with The Bicester Collection as well as well-known disability advocates and models like Essie Dennie, Lucy Dawson, Isaac Harvey MBE, Josh Wintersgill and Shani Dhanda is a dream come true- a dream I never thought would be open to me as a disabled woman working in the fashion industry. The time for true inclusion is now.”
Chantal Khoueiry, Chief Culture Officer at The Bicester Collection, said of the partnership:
“The Bicester Collection is delighted to support Victoria’s important mission to raise awareness and champion solutions for a welcoming and inclusive society. Our values are intrinsically aligned, we admire her determination as a young female entrepreneur pushing boundaries, and we applaud her commitment to making sustainable and adaptive fashion accessible.”
Beccy Dickson, Co-Founder of Eco Foundry, says, “I hope Eco Foundry and Unhidden will continue their collaboration long in to the future, our beliefs align, and we are building a partnership to create a better, more sustainable and inclusive future for the planet.”
