The Design Museum has revealed that award-winning interior designer Matthew Williamson has transformed its Sachs Family Park Room into a new dining experience and events space.
Williamson has brought his warm style and use of vibrant colour and vintage pieces to create a new space for clients and visitors to enjoy on the museum’s second floor. His design scheme for the room was inspired by the stunning views of Holland Park.
The space will be available for corporate and private hire anytime during the day and in the evening and is a standout setting for meetings, lunches, press events, drinks receptions and dinners with capacity for 120 guests standing and up to 100 seated. It will also be available as part of the museum’s exclusive daytime hire offer.
The new Park Room features a rich colour palette of green and terracotta to connect guests to the outdoor surroundings of Holland Park, and the reupholstered booths in a palette of greens provide an ideal vantage point into the park. The space blends vintage furniture, bespoke pieces, and mid-century design classics with some of Williamson’s own contemporary lighting designs. All furniture in the space is modular and can be moved or removed to suit our clients’ needs
Livia Puggini, Head of Commercial Hire & Events at the Design Museum, comments: “It’s fantastic to have a new space available for hire, particularly one as impressive as the new Park Room. Matthew Williamson has designed the space with a nod to our location creating a timeless and inviting setting that we know will appeal to our clients. Open now it is perfectly timed for any upcoming Autumn events with its rich colour palette and views across the park.”
The new Park Room is open now to coincide with the museum’s major autumn exhibition REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion sponsored by Alexander McQueen, which is available to hire for private viewings and tours. Contact the team to enquire by calling 020 3862 5907 or emailing venuehire@deisgnmuseum.org
