The deadline has been extended for applications to the 2024 Tomorrow’s Talent programme, The Meetings Show initiative designed to champion up-and-coming meeting and event planners.
UK-based talented event planners or buyers who are aged 30 and under, or who have up to three years’ experience in the meetings and events industry, now have until Wednesday 31 January 2024 to take part in the career-changing scheme.
Entries will be reviewed by a panel of industry professionals who will select the 10 most promising entrants to receive a series of opportunities throughout the year ahead and have their profiles raised within the industry.
Winning Tomorrow’s Talent has had a positive impact on the careers of those who have been awarded the title since the initiative started in 2019, helping to raise their profile and presenting opportunities for promotions and new roles.
Sarah Zarywacz, winner of Tomorrow’s Talent in 2022, said: “The awards are a great way to champion those going above and beyond in their careers to support wider industry progression so being part of this network is not only an honour but also really inspiring.”
Rachael Kenny, winner in 2020, said Tomorrow’s Talent was great for ‘opening more doors and creating lasting connections’ and urged more event professionals to put themselves forward.
Jack Marczewski, portfolio event director of The Meetings Show, TEAMS Europe and Business Travel Show Europe, said: “We’re pleased to have received so many applications to Tomorrow’s Talent 2024 since we opened for entries in December. However, we’re aware it has been a busy time as people return to work after the festive break so we felt an extension to the end of the month would allow more event professionals to enter.
“We can’t wait to celebrate up-and-coming talent and we know that winning can boost careers and profiles within the industry, so would urge anyone who fits the criteria to submit their applications now.”
Full benefits for the 10 winners will include attendance at a celebratory lunch; personal profiling opportunities through M&IT and The Meetings Show; VIP attendance at The Meetings Show 2024; the chance to participate in a future talent-themed education session as part of The Meetings Show’s content programme; and the opportunity to join The Meetings Show Advisory Board meetings.
Each winner will also be offered a free place on The Complete Sustainable Events Course and one winner will also be given the chance to work with a Women in Exhibitions mentor through a partnership between WiE and The Meetings Show.
Applications for Tomorrow’s Talent now close on 31 January 2024. Planners can either nominate themselves or be nominated by an industry colleague, with nominations to be made in writing OR via video submission, to an agreed set of criteria.
