Rum entrepreneur makes a deal in a behind the scenes coup
A pitch to the Dragons by Cloven Hoof Rum owner Paul Stanley came just minutes after he’d secured another investment, causing the Dragons to suffer bruised egos as tensions flared in the Den.
Presenting a head-banging heavy metal performance from Ryders Creed, and serving the Dragons rum and tonic, last Sunday, entrepreneur Paul Stanley shook up the studio with an unwavering belief in the great taste of his cult rum.
Dragon Peter Jones said it was one of the best opening pitches he’d ever seen, and the millionaires were, at first, keen to come on board with the rum they enjoyed drinking. But, the five venture capitalists missed yet another dazzling opportunity to make money when they decided against investing – refusing to share the glory with the other investors.
Despite initially ‘wanting in’ on Cloven Hoof’s success, Paul’s deal just minutes earlier really got their goat, and they claimed they were not willing to work with others.
Walking away without the Dragons’ money, Paul saw Cloven Hoof’s social media explode, and online sales of Cloven Hoof skyrocketed immediately after the show aired.
Paul said: “I found two investors who know the industry inside out. They believe in the award-winning taste of Cloven Hoof. It was great to get the Dragons drinking Cloven Hoof Rum – the fact that they didn’t invest won’t slow us down. We’ll keep on raising the Hoof and making a great success of the rum.”
