Central Hall Westminster, part of Central Hall Venues group, has officially launched its new partnership with in-house caterers, Green & Fortune, with a pledge to pay all current and future catering staff beyond the London Living Wage.
From December 2021, the vast majority of employees at Green & Fortune will be earning more than £12 per hour, significantly more than the minimum wage, the London Living Wage and the average rates paid by many companies in the hospitality sector. Alongside the increased hourly rates, the caterers have also introduced a range of initiatives to reward staff, support work-life balance and general wellbeing.
The contract was for the exclusive provision of all catering at CHW including corporate events and concerts within the 25 flexible event spaces, the popular public Wesley’s Café and the smaller street café. Central Hall Westminster chose Green & Fortune as a company which held similar values to its own as well as exceptional food and service.
Over recent months, Green & Fortune has been working with CHW to re-launch its catering offering for events and in the public cafes. Its first major event was Hirespace’s EventLAB held on 24th November where the catering offering included an array of food stations for every dietary need, all produced with seasonal, sustainably sourced ingredients with as few food miles as possible.
To launch the new partnership with CHW, Green & Fortune is also introducing new menus at Central Hall Westminster for 2022 which focus even more on sustainability, reduced food miles, independent suppliers, minimum food waste and real choice for all dietary requirements. The menus include daytime catering packages, with hot sandwich stations, lunches from seated working sandwich platters to hot and cold standing options, through to reception packages, bowl food and seated dinners. There is also an option to build your own menu and imaginative choice of drinks.
Green & Fortune’s Chief Executive, John Nugent, comments: “We are delighted to be officially launching our partnership with Central Hall Westminster and paying beyond the London Living Wage is an integral part of this. We strive to be ahead of what the rest of the industry is doing and coming out of the pandemic has sharpened our focus further. We are looking forward to working with CHW in the coming months and years.”
Paul Southern, Managing Director of Central Hall Venues, which runs Central Hall Westminster, comments: “In challenging times as these, it is wonderful to be working with a catering company with the same values of integrity and ethos as our own. As an organisation which exists to maintain our beautiful, historic building and contribute to charities around the world, it’s so important that our values are aligned.”
