The Barbican, London’s internationally renowned arts and conference centre, will champion the City of London’s Destination City to buyers from around the world at IMEX America 2025.
IMEX America will take place from 8-10 October in Las Vegas, providing an opportunity for the Barbican to emphasise its fundamental role at the heart of the Destination City program.
The City of London Corporation’s Destination City programme aims to highlight, celebrate and grow London’s Square Mile district as world-leading business and cultural location. The City is delivering an expansive calendar of events, from open-air festivals to educational forums, whilst improving the area’s accessibility and pedestrianisation. In doing so, it hopes to continue growth across a variety of sectors – such as tech – whilst attracting professionals, residents and visitors from around the world.
As the birthplace and beating heart of historic London; and today, its financial, legal and commercial epicentre (home to the Old Bailey, Bank of England and Fleet Street), the Square Mile is known for being one of the most important and influential areas of the UK.
The Square Mile is also home to world-renowned cultural institutions such as the Barbican, which is the largest and most iconic arts and learning centre in the City of London. The Centre, with its striking brutalist architecture, holds much historical significance. Standing atop Roman foundations, and built on a site razed by the Blitz, it symbolises a new post-war utopian ideal. It’s also one of London’s most ambitious and unique architectural achievements.
Today, the Barbican offers a vibrant venue for corporate and association events, conferences, meetings, and entertainment. Its presence at IMEX America will highlight how its unique blend of cultural heritage and modern event facilities contributes to making the Square Mile an unparalleled destination for global events.
Barbican’s Head of Sales, Jenny Waller, will represent the Barbican at IMEX America. She comments: “The Square Mile is not just the financial heart of London; it’s a cultural beacon that’s continuously evolving and Destination City is showcasing the area as a cultural superpower. We’re proud to be part of that showcase. At the Barbican, we similarly continue to evolve. We strive to draw diverse audiences through wide-ranging events and provide a dynamic space that combines the arts with business. IMEX America is the perfect platform for us to demonstrate the incredible potential the Square Mile holds for international events.”
