Twickenham Stadium has once again underlined its award-winning sustainability qualifications with the achievement this week of the Green Meetings Silver Award. The accreditation, recently joined by Twickenham, is part of the wider Green Tourism scheme which recognises businesses for excellence in sustainability.
The award provides further endorsement for the stadium following recent initiatives including its circular kitchen, use of Klimato carbon labelling, commitment to local sourcing and intelligent menu design, and most recently, the launch of a self-destructing sustainable plastic cup, in partnership with Lyfecycle. The latest accreditation from Green Meetings underlines both the business’s continued commitment to sustainability, and the longevity of it.
“We’ve been working hard to become not only a more sustainable venue, but also one that innovates and shares learnings with other businesses, and this is something we’re really proud to have done over the last five years,” comments Nils Braude, Managing Director, Twickenham Experience Ltd. “We understand how important sourcing a sustainable venue is for many of our clients and this latest accreditation from Green Meetings is another highly credible endorsement which allows our customers to book us with confidence, knowing this is a commitment from us that is not going away.”
Green Tourism CEO, Andrea Nicholas commented: “Achieving a Silver Award in our industry-leading accreditation programme underlines that Twickenham Stadium is a business that displays commendable levels of sustainability best practice in its meetings and events provision. It also shows a level of innovation, and dedication, that points towards a continued progression of these high standards. We look forward to continuing to support the team as they progress on their green journey.”
