De Vere Cotswold Water Park donates laptops to Swindon and Gloucester schools

De Vere Cotswold Water Park, part of De Vere’s collection of historic mansion house estates and distinctive contemporary hotels and event destinations, is donating ten laptops to schools in Swindon and Gloucester to support families with home schooling.

As schools have had to take lessons online owing to the current lockdown, De Vere Cotswold Water Park is donating ten laptops to ensure children have the technology they need to access learning resources during the pandemic. With many families juggling work commitments and supporting their children’s education, having access to multiple devices can be difficult and it’s hoped the donation will be a timely relief with the prospect of continued home learning.

Peter Sangster, Venue Director at De Vere Cotswold Water Park said: “It is a challenging time for families facing home schooling, especially those who don’t have the equipment they need, so we are absolutely delighted that we are able to donate laptops to schools in Gloucester and Swindon. We want to ensure that children are not at risk of falling behind in their studies and can access online learning during lockdown. Schools, teachers and families are doing a fantastic job with remote learning and we hope this donation will make it a bit easier for those we’re helping.”

Robert Buckland, MP for South Swindon, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice said: “The Government have been doing an excellent job with the ‘Get Help With Technology Scheme’ and along with Justin Tomlinson MP, I have been supporting their efforts on a local level here in Swindon.

“I am delighted that De Vere Cotswold Water Park have offered their support with this scheme and I would like to thank them for their generous offer of laptops for students at the Dorcan Academy here in Swindon to help with home schooling.”
